Jane Tyrrell is a dynamic vocalist, songwriter and performer.

Tyrrell's approach to songwriting has a strong emphasis on the link between aural and visual imagery. This is something that has been influenced by her work as a multi-faceted artist whose disciplines include fine art, art direction and design.

A self-taught vocalist, she has been performing and recording in a variety of genres since 1999. Her voice has been described as deep rich in tone and ethereal and soulful in nature. On stage she has an infectious presence and an outgoing personality.

A natural born performer, Tyrrell's musical path began in earnest after being invited to Zimbabwe to study African percussion, song and dance. Returning to Australia she linked up with hardcore hip hop group Blades of Hades, contrasting their explosive rhymes with her soulful spoken word.
In 2005 after featuring as a guest on The Herd's breakthrough album 'The Sun Never Sets', she was invited to join the award-winning group full time. As a member of the band she toured extensively playing at numerous festivals and sold-out shows all across the country. She subsequently joined Urthboy as a regular collaborator and member of his acclaimed live show. Taking part in several high-profile guest spots, tours and festivals.

Around the same time as the release of The Herd's ARIA Top 10 album 'Summerland', Tyrrell lent her vocals to lauded indie outfit Firekites, for their debut album 'The Bowery'.
On the live stage she's performed alongside the likes of Paul Kelly, Missy Higgins, Claire Bowditch has featured on a range of recorded material from the likes of Coda, Horrorshow, Tuka and more.

In July, 2014 Tyrrell premiered 'Wild Waters', the hypnotic first taste of her debut album Echoes In The Aviary. It quickly amassed 50,000 plays and caught the attention of music lovers in Australia and abroad. Lead single 'The Rush' (iTunes Single Of The Week) followed up in September, offering up an even more sophisticated sonic impression with its tale of incompatible love.

Playing out like a series of intricate vignettes, Echoes in the Aviary was released on October 17. It ventures deep into the juncture where indie and electronic meet the warmer soulful tones of Tyrrell’s timbre. The Age's Craig Mathieson called the album "an elegantly arresting song cycle made with art-rock brush strokes and underpinned by atmospheric electronic rhythms"

Her evocative delivery is enhanced by the meticulous attention to detail of collaborators Dustin McLean(Axolotl), J.Walker (Machine Translations), Richard Pike and Laurence Pike (PVT) and producer Pip Norman (Sparkadia). Collectively, they employ a masterful use of instrumentation and percussion to create a beautifully vivid underscore.

Echoes In The Aviary captures the passion and adventurousness of Tyrrell and her fluency across a range of genres. It’s that understanding of music, and the utterly compelling presence she has on stage, that has swept up fans here and overseas.

A bold and accomplished first offering, Echoes In The Aviary is a testament to Jane Tyrrell’s inspired artistic vision.

Jane Tyrrell will celebrate the release of Echoes In The Aviary with launch dates in Sydney and Melbourne before supporting Asgier in January 2015. She's performed on Channel 7's Morning show, Sydney Festival and Vivid Sydney.
